Cotto Wilts Under Relentless Margarito Pressure

   Even though cotto lost I still feel like he went out like a true champion. He was accurate on his punches all night and he was dancing like a true boxer. It was disappointing to see his final round but I was still proud of the fight he fought. I’m sure that won’t be the last of cotto. Do I hear rematch?!!!

   As much as I like Cotto and really liked how he fought through the first six or seven rounds, it is imperative that he takes a long break (6-9 months) without doing anything in a gym or ring. That was some beating he took. After that, I’d like to see him fight a tune-up and then consider fighting Margarito again (pending that Margarito wins his next fight against either De La Hoya, Paul Williams or the winner of Zab Judah-Joshua Clottey).

   Ja I agree completely. The most difficult hurdle in a rematch with Margarito will be mental. He was a bloody mess at the end there. I don’t know how long Margarito is going to last with a face first defense though. No one should hitch there wagon to this guy … if PBF decides he wants to fight again, he dismantles this guy and will flat-out embarass him, ala Sweet Pea vs JC Chavez. All that aside, props to Margarito on a tremendous win.

   O, I’m with you 100% on your comment, except for your last point. I think Antonio troubles Mayweather more than Chavez did Whitaker for two primary reasons: 1) he;ll be naturally bigger than Floyd, while Chavez was not naturally bigger than Pernell and 2) he’s closer to his physical prime than Chavez was when he fought Pernell (Pernell was also slightly past his prime too though).
