Second Fight, Same Outcome: Dawson-Tarver II

It troubled me to write this post. However, since I provide insight weekly, I felt compelled to share my Dawson-Tarver II fight prediction.  The prediction is easy. I already successfully predicted the outcome of their first fight. And I expect a similar outcome the second time around. This post was difficult for me to write because Antonio "the Magic Man" Tarver (27-5, 19 KOs) didn’t deserve this rematch after being dominated by "Bad"  Chad Dawson (27-0, 17 KOs) last October.

If Dawson wins, his critics will say that he beat a spent fighter (Tarver) again, proving very little. And you know what? They’d be right. If he were to lose, the proverbial Dawson bandwagon would be empty. And I’d have a hard time dissing the "Dawson turncoats" were he to lose to Tarver. It’s a fight he must win if he wants to become a superstar.

This is a no-lose situation for Tarver. If he loses, he simply lost to the fresher, younger fighter. But if he wins, he’d have turned back the clock and made a strong case for entry into the Boxing Hall of Fame. However, the second scenario is highly unlikely for the reasons I wrote about earlier. The biggest question is whether Dawson stops Tarver this time around.

I do not expect a Dawson stoppage victory but do expect another easy decision win over Tarver in a fight that I probably will not watch live. OK, maybe I’m lying … but no one would question your boxing allegiance if you were to turn the channel.

I am going with Mason “The Line” Dixon in this one. Anyone who can go 12 rounds with Rocky Balboa and dominate a 60 year old punch drunk fighter, is impressive.

Honestly. Why is there even a rematch in this fight? What did Tarver do that leaves me to believe he has any chance. And the Odds suggest a cake walk for Dawson.

Jeff, it’s the dreaded rematch clause (sigh). At least we get to see the Pacquiao-Hatton reply again (ouch)!

guys.. if you want to know some thing crazy, I needed to turn over a bet bonus online and this was the nearest best “bet”, I placed, 120.00 GBP at 3/20, Possible win 138.00 GBP

I sure hope I dont get burnt on this one, I know its not a wise bet, Im due a loss having had the sickest heater online in sports and other for the last week.

Id sure appericate some small talk about just how wounderfull Chad is and how Traver has less than a punchers chance :-)

I know this is the wrong place but have you seen that odds checker is listing the Manny v Floyd Mayweather fight : http://www.oddschecker.com/boxing/manny-pacquiao-v-floyd-mayweather-jr/win-market

I VERY much look forward to reading the preview fight insight into this fight, for me this is maybe the biggest fight I have looked forward to in my adult life.

Oh yeah, I’m VERY hyped for this one too. Good to see boxing is still in good hands. It actually appears to be experiencing a mini-resurgence of sorts. Mayweather has to get by Marquez first though. :)

Maybe not, but I honestly think if he fought how he fought last night against Dawson, he could actually compete with most top light heavyweights. But I guess that’s not saying much given the mediocre state of division.
