Another Bad Sequel: Wladimir Klitschko Meets Sam Peter Again

The heavyweight division sucks. Yes, I said it. Some folks blame the dominant, yet uninspiring Klitschko brothers, for the current sleep-inducing state of the division. Others blame everyone not named Klitschko, viewing the division as a landfill overflowing with tomato cans and bags of garbage.

Enter Sam Peter…again.

Peter is not exactly garbage nor is he a tomato can, but don’t expect him to upset the apple cart that is one Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 48 KOs). Peter apologists will state the following reasons for his case against "Doctor Steelhammer:"

  1. Five years ago he lost a competitive decision to the same guy. In fact, he knocked Klitschko down a whopping three times in that fight.
  2. He’s on a four-fight winning streak — all the fights did not last longer than four rounds.
  3. In his last fight against Nagy Aguilera, he weighed a relatively svelte 237.5 pounds. This was the lightest that he had weighed since 2001!

Those in Klitschko’s corner for this one (present company included) would counter with:

  1. "So what Peter came close in their first bout. He was fighting a cautious version of Klitschko who was ripe for the picking, and he still couldn’t pull it off!"
  2. "Who has Peter defeated during his winning streak? His streak is more like a skid-mark, stained by the likes of Nagy Aguilera, Gabe Brown, Ronald Bellamy and Marcus McGee."
  3. "It’s good to see that Peter is finally in-shape. The only way this helps is that he’ll be able to pick himself up easier off the canvas."

In my opinion, Peter had his golden opportunity to defeat Klitschko back in 2005. My boxing calculator estimates that it will be another Wladimir Klitschko victory, but this time, it will not go the distance.

this fight is a lot more about the dr. Redeeming himself against Peter than it is about Zpeter coming back. If you believe in the “puncher’s chaance” then you have to give Peter some chance at an upset (very small one , but one just the same). No matter how many times a fighter wins in the ring those three knock downs will haunt Wladirir until he redeems himself even against the fading “Nigerian Nightmare”. How cool would it be if Peter got an upset tho’! Hey I can dream can’t I?

What kind of shape is Peter in? I would say is he is in great shape he has a better than everage chance. If he is overweight, forget it

@Jeff He was in “relative” shape but it didn’t help. He got bludgeoned.
